Doctor Rubella
Doctor Phillibert Hubone Rubella is the most intelligent Platypus in the world. He first gained his fame as a scientist when he invented the front facing smartphone camera along with the first platypus social network “BeakSnap”. This “mind blowing” innovation gave Rubella all the funding he needed to practice real mind bending bio-science. Feeling alone among a population of veritable cement-heads, Rubella has focused his research on modifying the Platypus DNA. His personal goal is to make the average Platypus smarter, so that he can have at least one intelligent conversation with another platypus before he dies of old age. After multiple breakthroughs in his research, the Platypus military took notice. They promised him unlimited funding for the rest of his old life if he could create a Platypus super soldier.
SpeedMan
Tomas Speedman was once a gunner for the prestigious Aerial Gunner Squad. Tasked with keeping the blue Platypus skies clear of invading Octos. Beyond that, not much is known about Speedman’s history or temperament. Rumor has it he was horribly injured during an Octo raid. A fiery landing pod (that he shot down) crashed into his ground turret leaving him a wobbly cripple. A decade later he shows up at Rubella Labs, volunteering for the Super Platypus program.
Lord Bizeus
Bizeus was born into a life of royalty as the son of the Emperor of the Octo World. At a young age he was given the power to command small armies. His father felt it was important for him to learn the ways of war at an early age. Unfortunately for Bizeus, the only enemy to fight is the Platypus World. The two planets have been at a stalemate for generations. Any attempt to invade is quickly shot down by their superior aerial defenses. This has left Bizeus bitter and frustrated. He is not used to being denied the things he wants. He often watches the Platypus TV broadcasts, allowing himself to be outraged by all the anti Octo propaganda. He dreams of the day he can invade Planet Platypus and “show them who’s boss”, and prove to his dad that he’s not a baby anymore.
